Moscow Refinery is 85 years old!

Today the Moscow Oil Refinery celebrates a round date — 85 years since its foundation. For the company, this is the heyday — a huge experience has been accumulated, labor dynasties, production schools have been formed and a place in the history of the country is firmly occupied.

The growth of industrialization in the 30s led to the construction of its own refinery in the Moscow region - before that, oil refining facilities were based near oil production sites. The first ton of gasoline processed from Baku oil (it was delivered by barges) became the birthday of the enterprise.

During the years of the Great Patriotic War, the MNPZ continuously provided the front and rear with gasoline, jet fuel and fuel. In 1941, when the Luftwaffe bombed the plant almost daily, it not only survived, but, having rebuilt the system for raw materials of heterogeneous quality, it began to produce new types of products. During the war years, the plant processed almost 3 million tons of oil.

In the peaceful years, MNPZ has always been the flagship of innovations in the oil industry. Here, for the first time in the country, an electric desalting plant, a carbamide dewaxing plant, polypropylene production, catalytic reforming of gasoline, a flameless gorenje furnace, and also the first complex for deep oil refining in the USSR were launched.

Now the plant covers up to 50% of the capital's needs in gasoline and diesel fuel, provides airports with fuel, bitumen — roads of the city. The latest environmental developments implemented in the production allowed the plant to switch to a closed water consumption cycle. The Moscow refinery is undergoing a large—scale modernization, which will allow it to enter deep— up to 100%- oil refining.
